Piccoli Vasi: A Study in Form, Function, and Sustainability

Glass, in its fluid state, is a material of transformation, both alchemical and intentional. My work with Kindred Black is an extension of this philosophy, where each handcrafted vessel is not merely an object but a meditation on permanence, consumption, and the delicate balance between luxury and responsibility.

Piccoli Vasi—small vessels—are not just containers; they are artifacts of intention. Each piece, mouth-blown and shaped by fire, exists at the intersection of utility and art, a study in the tension between fragility and endurance. They are sculptural yet functional, evoking the intimacy of ritual while challenging the disposability of modern consumption.

In an industry where beauty is often ephemeral, these vessels demand presence. Their forms, organic and deliberate, reject mass production in favor of singularity, each one a quiet rebellion against waste. Crafted from glass that is meant to last, they serve as vessels not just for product, but for a shift in perspective.

This series is an ongoing exploration of material, scale, and purpose. Piccoli Vasi is not about nostalgia, nor is it about purity. It is about redefining the narrative of objects—how they are made, how they are used, and what they signify in a world in flux.

A striking black vessel with a bold yet refined design. Vertical fiber lines opaque rainbow hues create a sleek contrast against the dark background, evoking the vibrant, high-energy aesthetic of 1980s disco culture and club 84 in retro-futurism

The sleek contrast of the vibrant rainbow hues evoke a vibrant high energy aesthetic of 1980’s disco culture and club 84 . This hand-crafted piece merges retro-futurism with contemporary glass artistry making a statement in both form and function.

The beauty industry, built on aesthetics and self-care, often conceals an ugly truth of an overwhelming environmental impact driven by mass production, disposable packaging, and synthetic formulations. Every year, the industry generates over 120 billion units of packaging, much of it non-recyclable plastic destined for landfills and oceans. Microplastics from cosmetics infiltrate waterways, while petrochemical-based ingredients contribute to long-term ecological damage.

Piccoli Vasi is a response to this crisis. Each handcrafted glass vessel challenges the throwaway culture of beauty, offering an alternative that is both sustainable and intentional. Unlike mass-produced containers that are discarded after use, these vessels are designed to endure refillable, re-purposable, and inherently valuable. By choosing artistry over excess, we shift the narrative, proving that luxury and sustainability are not opposing forces but can coexist in meaningful, tangible ways.

As the demand for conscious consumption grows, Piccoli Vasi stands as a symbol of what the beauty industry could become, an industry that values permanence over waste, craftsmanship over mass production, and responsibility over convenience. This collection is more than a statement; it’s a blueprint for a future where beauty leaves a legacy without leaving a footprint.
